10,000 Small Businesses Connected by SOLAD

Solad Power Group, a participant in Nigeria’s Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Mini Grid component under the Nigeria Electrification Project (NEP), has successfully connected 10,000 small businesses to affordable and reliable energy through solar mini-grids, in Nigeria.

The company is aware of the importance of millions of small-scale businesses in the energy market (with SMEs making up 96% of Nigerian businesses and providing almost half of the GDP), so it aims to provide as many under-served market traders to electricity across the country.

Solad plans to begin its expansion by also providing solar technology solution to individual businesses. The provision of these solutions is to begin in June, 2021. Yewande Olagbende, the CEO of the Solad Power Group for Nigeria said, ‘Connecting our 10,000th small business is an achievement we are extremely proud of, and a clear validation of the unmet demand for affordable and reliable power amongst Nigeria’s millions of small businesses. But this is just the beginning of our journey. In addition to our existing investment programme to roll out more mini-grids in market clusters across the country, we are now able to provide individual businesses and homes with dedicated power solutions that can be installed rapidly.’
