- Projects consisted of 250MW and 500MW in Sicily and Sardinia.
- The wind project is expected to produce power enough for 750,000 homes.
Eni’s Plenitude and CDP Equity, GreenIT, and a Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) managed fund have collaborated to develop two wind projects, with a total capacity of 750MW, in Italy.
The new agreement between GreenIT and CI IV includes the development, construction and operation of a 250MW project in Sicily, along the coastal area of Marsala, and a 500MW-plus scheme in the sea area that faces the south-western coast of Sardinia. There are two offshore wind parks. The smaller will have 21 turbines and are expected to become operational by 2026, while the larger wind park will have more than 42 turbines, with operations expected to commence in 2028.
The Sicily located project is to be co-developed with Lilybeo Wind Power, and the project in Sardinia will be jointly developed with Nice Technologies and the 7 Seas Wind. Both farms have an estimated power generation output of over 2,000GWh of electricity every year, an equivalent to the average annual power demand of approximately 750,000 homes.
