- Over 8,000 homes are without supply in Fairfax county
- Thunderstorms disrupted supply on Wednesday
- Power lines were downed in the aftermath
Extreme weather conditions have resulted in a blackout with over 8,000 homes without electricity supply in Fairfax county. A thunderstorm ripped through the country, downing trees and power lines. Emergency services have shut down some roads due to the fallen power lines and trees.
”Follow detour signs in the area and please drive with caution,” Fairfax County Police Department said in a notice.
The regional library, Tysons-Pimmit Regional Library, was closed due to the ongoing power outage resulting from fallen trees and downed power lines. In addition, several businesses were affected by the thunderstorm.
”Community members should play it safe in the aftermath of last night’s storm that left many without power today as well as downed trees and branches,” the city said in a news release.
