India’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has partnered with the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to support climate-tech startups. The new partnership strengthens India’s push for clean energy and innovation.
DPIIT and GEAPP signed a two-year agreement to help early-stage companies develop green technologies. The plan targets startups that align with India’s climate goals.

GEAPP will launch the Energy Transitions Innovation Challenge (ENTICE) to discover and fund top clean energy solutions. Startups that win the challenge can receive up to $500,000.

Impact investors, Spectrum Impact and Avana Capital, will support the challenge. Both firms will provide selected startups with sector-specific expertise, business tools, and funding support. They focus on financing projects that deliver social and environmental benefits.

DPIIT and GEAPP have not announced a timeline for the ENTICE launch or startup selection. However, officials confirmed that planning has already begun.
GEAPP runs similar energy transition programmes in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The group focuses on startups in India to support national energy and industrial strategies.
