Tetracore, Dangote Cement Expand CNG Network

  • Tetracore commissioned a second mobile AutoGas unit at Dangote Cement’s Ibese plant, boosting CNG supply to 75,000 SCMD.
  • The partnership supports Nigeria’s clean energy shift, enabling nationwide rollout of 10,000 CNG trucks and expanding modular gas infrastructure.

Tetracore Energy Group Limited, an integrated energy solutions provider, has successfully commissioned Phase 2 of its AutoGas Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) supply network in partnership with Dangote Cement PLC. The company announced the development on Tuesday, June 10, highlighting its ongoing efforts to promote cleaner energy use in Nigeria’s industrial and transport sectors.

As part of this expansion, Tetracore deployed a mobile AutoGas refuelling unit at the Dangote Cement Plant in Ibese, Ogun State. This new unit delivers up to 50,000 standard cubic metres per day (SCMD) of AutoGas. Combined with the 25,000 SCMD currently supplied from Tetracore’s CNG Mother Station in Atakabo, Ogun State, the network meets the rising demand for sustainable fuel alternatives.

Moreover, Tetracore has begun supplying AutoGas to the Dangote Group’s new fleet of CNG-powered trucks, which are set to be deployed nationwide. This initiative supports Dangote’s plan to roll out up to 10,000 CNG trucks annually, with refuelling available directly at the port.

In addition to the new unit at Ibese, Tetracore has also deployed a second 50,000 SCMD mobile CNG refuelling unit to enhance operational flexibility at the plant. These mobile units ensure a reliable, clean energy supply, particularly in areas without permanent infrastructure.

According to Masud Akajewole, Project Team Lead at Tetracore, the commissioning represents more than an infrastructure upgrade. “It reaffirms our strategic intent to support Nigeria’s gas utilisation projects by delivering practical, innovative solutions that bridge energy gaps for industrial and transport players,” he stated.

Furthermore, this development aligns with the Nigerian government’s Renewed Hope Agenda and national CNG initiatives, which aim to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy access, and accelerate the country’s transition to sustainable energy sources.

Looking ahead, Tetracore and Dangote Cement plan to deploy additional mobile CNG units across Nigeria. Their partnership exemplifies a modular, scalable approach to clean energy infrastructure, positioning both companies at the forefront of Nigeria’s evolving energy landscape.
