Instollar Launches Second Phase of InstallHER Initiative

  • Instollar Technologies launched the second phase of its InstallHER initiative to train 100 women as solar technicians, entrepreneurs, and sales agents across Nigeria.
  • The company aims to train 10,000 women by 2030 and connect them to real job opportunities in the clean energy sector.

Instollar Technologies has launched the second phase of its InstallHER Initiative, a clean energy training programme designed to boost the participation of women in Nigeria’s solar sector.

With support from the Acumen Angels Grant, the company trains 100 women across Nigeria to become certified solar technicians, entrepreneurs, and sales agents. It also aims to train 10,000 women by 2030, bridging the gender gap and driving inclusive growth in the clean energy workforce.

Chinwe Udo-Davis, CEO of Instollar Technologies, highlighted the urgency of addressing gender disparity in the solar industry. “Out of over 1,200 technicians in our workforce database, less than one per cent were women. That’s a gap we can’t afford to ignore. InstallHER is our solution, a hands-on pathway for women to access the skills, opportunities, and income potential in Africa’s energy transition,” Udo-Davis said.

He explained that InstallHER breaks down barriers that prevent women from entering the solar industry, including high technical entry requirements, limited mentorship, and a lack of exposure.

Meanwhile, the programme features modules on solar installation and maintenance, entrepreneurship, business development, and sales agency pathways. Instollar designed the curriculum to prepare women for employment and position them for leadership and business ownership in the clean energy space.

According to Udo-Davis, the pilot phase in June 2024 trained over 30 women, many of whom now work with solar companies or lead sales efforts in their communities.

“This isn’t just about training,” he added. “It’s about connecting women to real income-generating opportunities in an industry that desperately needs talent.”

In addition, Instollar Technologies operates a digital workforce platform that links solar companies with trained gig workers across Africa. Its services cover solar home systems, commercial and industrial installations, mini-grids, mesh grids, installation, maintenance, and after-sales support.

By scaling the InstallHER Initiative, Instollar Technologies is building a gender-inclusive talent pipeline that will support Nigeria’s clean energy transition and foster sustainable, long-term growth.
