FG Hosts Mission 300 Stakeholder Forum to Drive Energy Access

  • FG will host a stakeholder forum on July 8 to accelerate Nigeria’s National Energy Compact under Mission 300.
  • Nigeria aims to double electricity access growth and boost clean cooking solutions with support from global partners.

The Federal Government of Nigeria will hold a high-level stakeholder forum on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, to advance the implementation of the National Energy Compact under the Mission 300 initiative as it ramps up efforts to end energy poverty.

The Federal Ministries of Power and Finance will lead the forum in partnership with Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL). Engagement is a key step in Nigeria’s nationwide strategy to boost electricity access.

Mission 300, backed by the World Bank Group and African Development Bank, aims to connect 300 million people across Africa to electricity by 2030. The initiative also receives support from The Rockefeller Foundation, the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet, and SEforALL.

Meanwhile, Nigeria is among the 12 countries selected for the programme’s first phase. It has pledged major reforms to expand access to electricity, grow its renewable energy sector, and attract private investment.

Furthermore, the government has set up a Compact Delivery and Monitoring Unit to coordinate delivery. The unit will drive implementation and track progress on Mission 300 targets.

In addition, the unit will organise a stakeholder forum that will bring together top government officials, development agencies, and private sector leaders. The forum will also track progress and highlight key actions under the compact, which Nigeria launched at the Dar es Salaam Energy Summit in January 2025.

The compact sets clear investment targets. It aims to double the electricity access growth rate from 4% to 9% annually and increase access to clean cooking solutions from 22% to 25% annually.
