- Envision Energy will supply 100MWh BESS each for Field’s Holmston and Drum Farm sites, boosting Scotland’s grid capacity.
- Construction is underway at Holmston, with Drum Farm starting this autumn.
Envision Energy and UK-based developer Field have signed agreements to supply two 100MWh battery energy storage systems (BESS) for projects in Scotland, the companies confirmed on Wednesday, July 13.
Envision will deliver containerised lithium iron phosphate BESS units for Field’s Holmston and Drum Farm sites. Each facility will offer 50MW/100MWh of capacity to support the national grid by storing electricity and discharging it during peak demand.
Field began construction on the Holmston site in South Ayrshire earlier this summer. The company plans to start work on Drum Farm near Keith in early autumn. Both projects will reach completion by the end of 2026.
Furthermore, Envision Energy is committed to supporting the projects through a 15-year long-term service agreement. The company will provide installation, maintenance, and technical support throughout the systems’ operational lifespan.
“Scotland represents a key market for us,” said Henry Peng, senior vice president at Envision Energy. “Our partnership with Field reflects their trust in our technical expertise and proven energy storage solutions.”
He added, “We continue to expand our UK portfolio with scalable, safe, and reliable BESS that accelerate the shift to net-zero energy systems.”
Field CEO Amit Gudka also welcomed the collaboration. “We broke ground at Holmston and will soon begin work at Drum Farm,” he said. “These milestones bring us closer to building a cleaner and more secure energy system for Scotland and the wider UK.”
In addition, Gudka emphasised the importance of battery storage. “BESS plays a crucial role in strengthening the grid and enabling greater use of renewables. Partnering with Envision allows us to deploy cutting-edge technology to meet that goal.”
Field and Envision aim to boost grid flexibility and support the UK’s renewable energy targets by delivering efficient, large-scale battery infrastructure.
