Schneider Electric has marked 25 years of operations in Nigeria, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability, technical education, and industrial development across Nigeria.

The French energy management and industrial automation giant, which entered the Nigerian market in 2000, said its local operations have driven regional growth in neighbouring Ghana and Sierra Leone. It provides digital energy solutions to key sectors including manufacturing, oil and gas, construction, hospitality, and consumer goods.

“Our 25-year journey in Nigeria is part of our global mission to expand access to energy and support the UN Sustainable Development Goals,” Country President Ajibola Akindele MFR said. “From powering tech cities to securing pipelines with our EcoStruxure IoT solutions, sustainability has remained at the heart of our mission.”

Furthermore, Schneider Electric said it has trained thousands of Nigerian students through over 25 technical training centre partnerships nationwide, alongside over 100 teacher missions to equip educators with industry-relevant skills. The company also invests in community empowerment, green skills development, and digital infrastructure, including a newly opened 200-capacity multi-modal testing centre in Rivers State.

The firm’s Nigerian workforce has grown from 40 to over 250 employees, working with more than 300 partners to support thousands of indirect jobs. In 2024, Schneider Electric opened a new Nigerian office and was named “Employer of the Year” in the Energy and Utilities Sector by the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association.

“We are committed to shaping the future of energy and automation in Nigeria and Africa,” Akindele said. “Our focus remains on innovation, sustainability, and inclusive development.”
