Sahara Group Champions Innovation, Sustainability at AEW 2025

  • Sahara Group will showcase cooperation, innovation, and sustainability as drivers of Africa’s energy transition at the 2025 Africa Energy Week in Cape Town.
  • Its executives will present on digital oilfields, data-driven growth, gas commercialisation, and resilient electricity models.

Sahara Group, a leading energy and infrastructure conglomerate, will spotlight cooperation, innovation, and sustainability as key drivers of Africa’s energy transition at the 2025 Africa Energy Week (AEW) in Cape Town, South Africa. The event, scheduled from September 29 to October 3, carries the theme: “Invest in African Energies: Positioning Africa as the Global Energy Champion.”

Ade Odunsi, Executive Director at Sahara Group, said Africa could achieve reliable and sustainable energy access by leveraging technology, innovation, and policy collaboration.

Meanwhile, the company’s delegation includes Leste Aihevba, Asharami Energy’s chief technical officer; Bethel Obioma, Sahara Group’s head of corporate communications; Dr Tosin Etomi, Asharami Energy’s head of commercial and planning; and Mariah Lucciano-Gabriel, Asharami Energy’s Head of Integrated Gas Ventures.

In addition, Aihevba will present on digital oilfield technologies, emphasising the importance of aligning international best practices with local realities to boost capacity, efficiency, and sustainability. Etomi will discuss how data can drive growth, while Lucciano-Gabriel will highlight gas commercialisation as a bridge to a cleaner energy future.

Furthermore, Obioma will moderate the AEW 2025 session on “Rethinking Utility Models to Build Resilient and Affordable Electricity Markets.” She said, “The future of electricity in Africa will be defined by models that support a mix of microgrids, mini grids, national grids, and renewable solutions designed to serve communities and industries sustainably.”

With operations spanning upstream, midstream, downstream, power, and infrastructure across Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, Sahara Group reaffirmed its commitment to delivering value across the energy chain.
