Energy Leaders Unite for Africa’s Transformation

  • Talks on clean energy, decarbonisation, and regional trade opportunities will shape Africa’s energy transformation.
  • Dangote’s $20 billion investment strengthens Africa’s energy transformation with a new fuel hub in Walvis Bay.

The 4th International African Energy, Oil and Gas Summit (IAEOGS) 2025 will focus on Africa’s energy transformation. The event will take place from October 6 to 10 in Windhoek and bring together global, regional, and domestic leaders. Delegates aim to accelerate Africa’s energy transformation through innovation, partnerships, and bold investments.

The summit will include high-level dialogues, policy roundtables, and investor-led sessions. It will also feature exhibitions, awards, tours, and networking opportunities. Importantly, topics such as energy access, LNG security, hydrogen, ammonia, carbon pricing, and local content will dominate discussions.

Aligned with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), the summit focuses on boosting intra-African trade. AfCFTA seeks to create a single market of 1.3 billion people with a GDP of $3.4 trillion. Yet, trade within Africa remains below 15%. Therefore, energy security and economic diversification are vital goals.

A major highlight comes from Dangote Petroleum Refinery. The company has announced a fuel storage and distribution terminal at Walvis Bay, Namibia. The facility will hold 1.6 million barrels and serve Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. This development will reduce dependence on ageing refineries in South Africa and strengthen regional supply.

Walvis Bay’s strategic harbour makes Namibia an ideal hub. Consequently, the project will boost competition, enhance fuel access, and support the nation’s growing oil boom. Above all, it cements Africa’s energy transformation while positioning the continent as a rising global energy hub.
