LUMIX Solutions Wins ECOWAS Renewable Energy Innovation Award

  • LUMIX Solutions won a $2,000 grant and recognition at the ECOWAS ROGEAP business plan competition in The Gambia.
  • The company’s solar irrigation pump innovation aims to boost food security, fight poverty, and expand clean energy access across Africa.

LUMIX Solutions Limited, a Nigerian renewable energy company, secured a place among the top six winners of the Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP) business plan competition organised by ECOWAS.

Entrepreneurs from 17 West African countries submitted entries, but the judges selected only six companies, two from anglophone nations and four from francophone nations, for recognition.

Nigerians Enwongo Udoh and Samuel Anyanwu co-founded LUMIX Solutions and presented an innovative solar irrigation pump that expands access to affordable clean energy, reduces carbon emissions, and promotes sustainable development. For this achievement, the company received a $2,000 grant and attended the Energy and Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) in Banjul, The Gambia, where it received the award.

Mr Udoh said LUMIX anchors its work on Africa’s agricultural potential: “Sixty-five per cent of arable land in Africa remains uncultivated, and only 4 per cent of farms are irrigated due to unreliable water supply. We drive our innovation by making solar irrigation pumps accessible and affordable for smallholder farmers. In the next five years, we aim to change this data significantly. Our solution will stimulate economic activities, reduce hunger, fight poverty, and provide clean water through renewable energy in rural communities.”

LUMIX Solutions empowers businesses and households with customised solar systems. The company offers two payment models: “buy and pay now,” for upfront purchases, and “buy and keep paying,” which spreads payments over time. In addition to installation engineers, the company employs maintenance technicians to ensure long-term customer satisfaction.
