- Econergy’s planned acquisition of the 155MW solar project in Romania strengthens its long-term goal to expand renewable and storage capacity across Europe.
- Through the Econergy 155MW solar project in Romania, the company continues to drive the shift toward sustainable and decentralised energy systems.
Econergy, an Israel-based independent power producer, will acquire the 155MW Ratesti solar project in Romania from Nofar Energy for €45.6 million. The transaction, which will be led by its subsidiary Econergy International, also includes a €14.9 million shareholder loan and will deliver a €13 million capital gain for the company.
The Ratesti project in Argeș County began operations in 2023 and ranks among southeastern Europe’s largest photovoltaic complexes. Econergy first invested in the site in 2021 and later secured €60 million in financing from Raiffeisen Bank International AG. These steps strengthened investor confidence and advanced the company’s renewable energy strategy.
Econergy plans to invest another €32 million to install a 120MW battery energy storage system (BESS) at Ratesti. The system will boost grid stability, improve flexibility, and raise operational efficiency. This move also supports Econergy’s goal of combining large-scale energy storage with its solar assets to ensure a reliable and sustainable power supply.
Econergy operates over 3.5GW of solar, wind, and storage assets in Romania. It recently launched its 87MW Oradea solar project, marking its fourth active site in the country. The company also plans to add a 68MW BESS at Oradea, with financing discussions underway.
This acquisition strengthens Econergy’s leadership in Europe’s renewable energy transition. Through strategic investments and steady growth, the company continues to shape the future of clean, decentralised, and efficient power systems across the continent.
