Senator Solomon Adeola, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation and representative of Ogun West, has launched 12 electrification projects across Ogun State to tackle prolonged power outages affecting businesses and residents.

Adeola, also known as Yayi, said persistent outages have hurt micro, small, and medium-scale enterprises that cannot afford costly alternative energy. He issued a statement through his Special Adviser on Media, Kayode Odunaro, on Sunday, October 26.

“I have listened carefully to the cries of our people. Persistent power outages have crippled businesses and made life difficult in many communities,” Adeola said. “As their elected representative, I cannot fold my arms while our people suffer in darkness. I am committed to restoring and sustaining power as quickly as possible.”

In addition, the interventions include reactivating Ilaro to Ibese, Ibese to Dangote, Dangote to Joga, and Isaga Junction to Ibara Orile 33KV overhead lines, and supplying and installing 500KVA 11/0.415KV transformers in Oniroko and Adigbe, Abeokuta.

The projects also involve constructing a dedicated 33KV feeder to Ilaro Township from Papalanto Transmission Station.

Furthermore, Adeola said the programme forms part of a comprehensive effort to rehabilitate power infrastructure, ensure reliable electricity, and stimulate economic growth.

“Electricity is the backbone of industrial and social development. By addressing these challenges, we are restoring hope, reviving local economies, and creating an enabling environment for business growth,” he said.

He thanked residents for their patience and assured them that the interventions would produce visible improvements in the shortest possible time.
