NNPC Commits to Nigeria’s Refinery Rehabilitation

  • NNPC Ltd’s refinery rehabilitation shows the government’s determination to achieve energy self-sufficiency, reduce foreign exchange losses, and stabilise the economy.
  • Through NNPC Ltd refinery rehabilitation, Nigeria moves closer to a reliable refining sector that can meet its rising energy needs.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has reaffirmed its strong commitment to restoring the full capacity of Nigeria’s three primary refineries, Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna. This project remains central to the company’s goal of revitalising national energy infrastructure and ensuring long-term energy security.

In its recent statement, titled “Update on Nigeria’s Refineries,” NNPC Ltd confirmed steady progress in both the technical and commercial overhaul of the plants. Each phase, the company said, is being managed with precision, transparency, and accountability. Moreover, the rehabilitation aligns with Nigeria’s National Energy Strategy, which seeks to expand local refining and reduce fuel imports.

NNPC Ltd explained that the refinery rehabilitation project improves energy security and strengthens operational efficiency across the oil and gas industry. It also supports job creation, boosts local industries, and drives sustainable economic growth.

The company described the rehabilitation as a key pillar of its transformation agenda. It added that the effort aligns with its ambition to become a globally competitive and commercially viable energy enterprise.

Furthermore, NNPC Ltd reported steady progress across all facilities. The Port Harcourt refinery has entered the advanced mechanical completion phase, while work continues at Warri and Kaduna. Once all three plants resume operations, Nigeria will significantly reduce its fuel imports and secure a stable domestic supply.

In addition, NNPC Ltd continues to invest in skilled workers, reliable contractors, and modern management systems. These efforts, it said, will help the refineries meet international standards for performance, efficiency, and safety.

Ultimately, NNPC Ltd reassured Nigerians of its focus on delivering results. Through consistent investment, strategic partnerships, and effective project management, the company aims to complete the refinery rehabilitation programme and strengthen Nigeria’s path toward sustainable energy independence.
