Q Energy, Velto Renewables Commission 26-MW Wind Farm in France

  • Q Energy and Velto Renewables have inaugurated the 26-MW Haut Chemin 2 wind farm in France.
  • Haut Chemin 2 marks Q Energy’s seventh wind farm in Haute-Marne, bringing its installed capacity in the region to nearly 300 MW, enough to power more than 250,000 people.

Germany-based renewable energy firm Q Energy, a Hanwha Solutions Corp entity, and Spain’s Velto Renewables have inaugurated the 26-MW Haut Chemin 2 wind farm in France’s Haute-Marne region, the companies said in a joint statement.

The project added seven turbines to the existing 20-MW Haut Chemin wind farm commissioned in 2014, raising the site’s total capacity to 46 MW. The new machines will generate enough electricity to power around 29,500 people, the companies said.

Haut Chemin 2 marks Q Energy’s seventh wind farm in Haute-Marne, bringing its installed capacity in the region to nearly 300 MW, enough to power more than 250,000 people.

It is also the fourth project jointly commissioned by Q Energy and Velto Renewables, part of a broader portfolio being transferred from Q Energy to the Spanish independent power producer under a long-term partnership signed earlier this year.

Velto Renewables, backed by global investment group La Caisse, is the co-owner of the Haut Chemin 2 wind farm, according to the latest statement.

“Today marks the commissioning of our first wind project in France, a key milestone that confirms our ambition to become a local clean energy producer in the country and a leading wind player in Europe”, said Velto CEO Lucas de Haro.
