Seplat Energy Achieves ISO 45001:2018 Certification for Workplace Safety

Seplat Energy PLC, a leading Nigerian independent energy company listed on both the Nigerian Exchange and the London Stock Exchange, has achieved the ISO 45001:2018 certification, marking a key milestone in its pursuit of operational excellence and workforce wellbeing.

The certification, presented by Bureau Veritas (VS) at Seplat’s Lagos headquarters, recognises the company’s strong health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards. It follows a rigorous process that includes gap assessments, workforce engagement, and implementation of adequate safety controls.

Stanley Opara, Seplat’s Manager of Corporate Communications, explained that the certification reinforces the company’s risk management systems and its commitment to employee safety. It also boosts Seplat’s competitiveness in the global energy industry.

Chief Executive Officer Roger Brown described the certification as a reflection of Seplat’s culture, where safety is a core value rather than a compliance requirement. Similarly, Chief Operating Officer Samson Ezugworie noted that it highlights the dedication of the company’s workforce and its ongoing commitment to improving safety and operational efficiency.

Bureau Veritas Certification Manager, Adenike Akinbote, commended Seplat for its transparency and professionalism during the audit process. In the same vein, General Manager HSE, Adeshina Sadiq, called the achievement a shared success that validates Seplat’s safety culture and its commitment to protecting employees.
