Japanese leasing and financing company Tokyo Century Corp has recently acquired a stake in a 122.5-MW operational wind power portfolio in the UK from local infrastructure investor Equitix.

The portfolio in question includes the Crook Hill wind farm near Manchester and Reaps Moss in Lancashire, as well as Pant y Wal and Mynydd Bwllfa in Wales.

Together, the four parks comprise 44 wind turbines capable of generating enough clean electricity to meet the demand of more than 67,000 local homes a year.

Those wind farms commenced commercial operation between 2013 and 2015 and currently sell their output under long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) and the Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) regime.

The transaction marks the Japanese company’s debut in the British onshore wind power market, it noted.
