Saxovent Acquires 81.8 MW PV Project in Northern Germany

  • Saxovent Renewables buys a construction-ready 81.8 MW solar project near Rostock, with 20 MW already secured under Germany’s EEG tender.
  • The project spans 57.8 hectares of farmland and may include battery storage, expanding Saxovent’s renewable portfolio in Northern Germany.

Saxovent Renewables has bought an 81.8-megawatt construction-ready solar project from developer Milvio in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The site lies south of Rostock. It has already secured a 20 MW award under Germany’s EEG tender. The remaining capacity will be sold through a power purchase agreement.

The company said the project could include a battery storage system. It is assessing this option before full commissioning. Saxovent confirmed that the solar park will connect to the grid quickly, although it did not give a timeline or disclose investment figures.

The plant will occupy approximately 57.8 hectares of leased farmland. A regional company is expected to buy part of the electricity.

CEO Thorsten Freise said the acquisition strengthens Saxovent’s photovoltaic portfolio. He added that the potential for battery storage makes the project technically attractive. The deal expands Saxovent’s footprint in northern Germany and adds another approved project to its renewable energy pipeline.
