Seplat Energy Plc has appointed Saidu Mohammed and Larry Ettah as Independent Non-Executive Directors. The appointments take effect on January 1, 2026. The company announced the news on Wednesday from Lagos and London.
The appointments follow the resignations of Bello Rabiu and Babs Omotowa in April 2025. They were left to join the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited. Seplat also said the new directors are part of its board succession plan.
Meanwhile, Engr. Saidu Mohammed has over 37 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He was Group Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation’s Gas and Power Directorate. He led projects such as the Escravos–Lagos Pipeline Expansion, the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano Gas Pipeline, and Nigeria LNG Train 7.
Additionally, he worked on policies, including the Gas Masterplan, Gas Network Code, and parts of the Petroleum Industry Act. Mohammed has led the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company and the Nigerian Gas Company. He also holds a degree in chemical engineering and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
Furthermore, Larry Ettah has nearly 40 years of experience in the corporate sector. He worked for 30 years at UAC of Nigeria Plc, serving as Group Managing Director and CEO from 2007 to 2018. He led restructuring and acquisitions across many sectors. After leaving UAC, he founded Barracuda Capital Partners Limited, where he is Executive Chairman. He also serves on several boards, including Coronation Merchant Bank and Mixta Africa Plc. Ettah holds a degree in industrial chemistry, an MBA, and has completed executive training at Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, INSEAD, IMD, and the University of Michigan.
Seplat Chairman Udoma Udoma welcomed the appointments. He said Mohammed and Ettah bring industry knowledge and business leadership. He stated that the company looks forward to their contributions to Seplat’s growth.
