Sun King has expanded its operations in Nigeria by launching pay-as-you-go smartphones. The company is known for providing off-grid solar power across the country. It now enables customers to acquire smartphones while paying in small instalments. The offer reduces the burden of high upfront costs and improves access to digital services.
Customers can choose smartphones from brands such as Samsung, Infinix, and Tecno. They make a deposit and pay the balance gradually under Sun King’s PayGo model. The company operates in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Meanwhile, its nationwide presence makes the offer accessible to students, traders, entrepreneurs, workers, and families.
“We have helped Nigerian households and businesses overcome the barrier of high upfront costs for reliable solar power. We are doing the same for smartphones,” said Omoyemi Tuga, Vice President for Pay As You Go Sales in West and Central Africa. In addition, Tuga said the initiative helps customers stay connected and participate in the digital economy.
Furthermore, smartphones are essential tools for communication, education, business, and financial services in Nigeria. Many people rely on their phones as their main access point to the internet. High purchase costs often prevent young people, low-income households, and women from owning better devices.
Sun King also applies the same PayGo structure that made solar products affordable. The model lets customers split the cost into small, manageable payments without financial strain. Customers can join through Sun King’s network of field agents or visit retail shops. The onboarding process is brief, and customers can start using their smartphones the same day.
