Axpo, Enhol Sign 3.7TWh Renewable Power Deal in Spain

  • Axpo Group has signed a 10-year power purchase agreement to supply 3.7TWh of electricity from Enhol Group wind assets in Spain.
  • The deal strengthens revenue certainty for Enhol and highlights the growing role of PPAs in stabilising renewable energy markets.

Axpo Group has signed a ten-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Spanish renewable energy operator Enhol. The deal will supply 3.7 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity and will cover all of Enhol’s wind assets in Spain.

Axpo Iberia, a subsidiary of Axpo Group, signed its largest PPA through this agreement. The deal supports Enhol’s strategic reorganisation of its renewable energy operations across Europe.

The agreement strengthens Enhol’s income stability. It also highlights the growing role of PPAs as key risk management tools in evolving electricity markets.

The 3.7TWh deal can power about 175,000 households. The project will also cut annual carbon dioxide emissions by more than 160,000 tonnes.

Axpo Iberia CEO Ignacio Soneira said the scale and duration of the agreement demonstrate the company’s ability to structure complex, large-scale transactions. He added that the deal advances both companies’ growth and consolidation strategies in the European renewable energy market. He said the agreement also supports the development of a more stable, competitive, and decarbonised energy system.

Enhol operates as an independent, family-owned company. The company runs operations in more than 20 countries across four continents. It plays a major role in Spain’s renewable energy sector. The company also develops and participates in several international wind power projects.

Enhol has partnered with Axpo Iberia for more than 20 years. The company has remained a long-standing customer of Axpo Iberia.

The new agreement strengthens Axpo’s position as a key partner for renewable energy producers. The company combines risk management expertise, financial strength, and deep knowledge of wholesale energy markets to deliver integrated energy solutions.

Grupo Enhol co-managing directors Diego and Gonzalo Oliver said the agreement strengthens the company’s stability and advances the strategic evolution of its renewable business in Europe. They said the deal reflects Enhol’s commitment to strong financial management, long-term industrial growth, and strategic partnerships with top-tier companies.

Axpo Iberia, founded in 2001, provides market representation and control centre services. The company also delivers energy efficiency solutions and supplies electricity, gas, solar energy, biomass, and biomethane.

In January 2025, Axpo Nordic, part of Axpo Group, signed a long-term corporate PPA with Finnish renewable energy investor and producer Exilion Tuuli Ky.
