DMCA Launches Hydraulic-Based PCRD Device in Nigeria

  • DMCA has introduced its Principle of Converted Regenerative Device (PCRD), which the company says delivers uninterrupted electricity for up to 35 years at reduced tariffs.
  • The company states that the system uses hydraulic liquid and positions it as an alternative to diesel generators and conventional solar installations

DMCA Energy Nigeria Limited has rolled out its “Principle of Converted Regenerative Device” (PCRD). The company says the solution can deliver long-term, uninterrupted electricity supply at lower tariffs.

The inventor of the PCRD machine and Chief Executive Officer of DMCA, Mr Christopher Amabi, announced the development during a press conference. The event took place at the Lagos national headquarters of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA).

Amabi presented the PCRD as a potential solution to Nigeria’s longstanding electricity reliability challenges. He said the technology entered the Nigerian market in 2024. He added that the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Lagos and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) have evaluated the system.

Furthermore, he explained that the system uses hydraulic liquid to generate electricity. The system can produce power from 50 kilowatts to 10,000 megawatts, depending on scale and demand.

Amabi disclosed that DMCA has made 100 PCRD units available in Nigeria. The company will allocate the units to the first 100 subscribers who sign a Power Purchase Agreement.

He added that users do not need to purchase the machines upfront. He also said the system does not require conventional fuel inputs to operate.

Meanwhile, the company structures the model around long-term service agreements. Customers pay for electricity supplied rather than the underlying infrastructure.

DMCA positions the technology as a breakthrough alternative energy solution. However, industry stakeholders have not yet publicly demonstrated large-scale deployment outcomes or commercial performance data.

DMCA says it will continue expanding deployment. The company also plans to engage regulators, technical institutions, and market stakeholders across Nigeria’s power market.
