NAPTIN, NCDMB Trains Youths in Solar Installation

  • NAPTIN and the NCDMB completed a three-week solar PV training programme to strengthen technical capacity in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.
  • The initiative equips Nigerian youths with practical solar installation and maintenance skills, supporting clean energy adoption, job creation, and sustainable electricity access.

National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) has completed a three-week Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installation and Maintenance Training Programme at its Regional Training Centre in Lagos. The institute organised the programme in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board to strengthen local capacity in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.

The programme equipped Nigerian youths with practical and technical skills for installing and maintaining solar photovoltaic systems. According to NAPTIN, the initiative delivered intensive hands-on training tailored to real-world energy applications and industry requirements.

Furthermore, participants received training in solar PV installation procedures, maintenance techniques, and operational best practices designed to improve efficiency and reliability in renewable energy deployment. Through the programme, NAPTIN and the NCDMB aimed to prepare young Nigerians for opportunities in the country’s expanding clean energy market.

NAPTIN stated that the initiative supports broader national goals around sustainable energy access, youth empowerment, and job creation. The programme also aligns with ongoing efforts to diversify Nigeria’s energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels through increased renewable energy adoption.

Energy stakeholders continue to emphasise the importance of technical training and workforce development in solving Nigeria’s electricity challenges, especially in underserved and off-grid communities where solar energy solutions are gaining wider adoption.
