LONGi, Saudi Water Authority Sign Clean Energy Agreement

  • LONGi and the Saudi Water Authority have signed a strategic MoU to integrate renewable energy and digital technologies into Saudi Arabia’s water infrastructure.
  • The partnership will support Saudi Vision 2030 through solar energy deployment, green hydrogen, industrial localisation and workforce development.

LONGi Green Energy has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Saudi Water Authority (SWA) to accelerate the integration of renewable energy and digital transformation across Saudi Arabia’s water sector.

The agreement was signed during Saudi Water Week 2026 in the presence of His Excellency Mansour Al-Mushaiti, Vice Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, and His Excellency Tariq Al-Ghafari, Vice President of the Saudi Water Authority.

The partnership aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and aims to strengthen sustainability across the Kingdom’s water production, treatment and distribution infrastructure through advanced clean energy and digital technologies.

Under the agreement, LONGi and SWA will collaborate in four strategic areas, including clean energy integration, digital transformation, industrial localisation, and human capital development.

As part of the clean energy agenda, both organisations will explore the deployment of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for water infrastructure alongside green hydrogen and energy storage solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

In addition, the partners will leverage artificial intelligence, smart monitoring systems and data analytics to optimise water networks and enhance the performance of water production and distribution facilities.

The MoU also provides a framework for technology localisation, supply chain development and the exploration of local manufacturing opportunities to strengthen Saudi Arabia’s clean energy ecosystem.

Furthermore, the partnership will support workforce development through training programmes for Saudi nationals while promoting joint research, development and pilot demonstration projects to accelerate innovation.

Speaking on the partnership, His Excellency Tariq Al-Ghafari said the Saudi Water Authority selected LONGi because of its strong technological capabilities in solar energy and its commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s energy transition goals.

He noted that the collaboration will enhance sustainability and operational efficiency across Saudi Arabia’s water infrastructure while advancing the country’s broader decarbonisation objectives.

James, representing LONGi Green Energy, said the agreement reflects the company’s long-term commitment to the Middle East and its continued role in delivering clean energy solutions for critical infrastructure.

He added that LONGi looks forward to working with the Saudi Water Authority to develop scalable solar and green hydrogen applications that support the Kingdom’s sustainability ambitions.

The agreement further reinforces LONGi’s commitment to supporting the Middle East’s clean energy transition while contributing to the decarbonisation of critical infrastructure sectors across the region.
