Day One: Solar & Storage Live Nigeria 2026

  • Solar & Storage Live Nigeria 2026 convened key stakeholders to advance solar deployment, energy storage and local manufacturing.
  • Discussions focused on regulatory reforms, grid resilience, industrialisation, electric mobility and scaling clean energy adoption across Nigeria.

Day One of Solar & Storage Live Nigeria 2026 brought together policymakers, regulators, developers, investors, manufacturers, installers and renewable energy professionals for a full day of conversations on the policies, technologies and partnerships shaping Nigeria’s clean energy future.

The conference opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a keynote address by Dr Abba Abubakar Aliyu, Managing Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), titled “From Diesel to Development: Powering Nigeria’s Economy with Solar & Storage.” In his address, he emphasised the urgent need to accelerate renewable energy deployment, strengthen energy security and reduce Nigeria’s dependence on diesel-powered generation to meet rapidly growing electricity demand.

Furthermore, the keynote was followed by a panel discussion, “Regulation That Unlocks Scale – Embedded Generation, Mini-Grids & Captive Power,” where policymakers and industry leaders examined how regulatory reforms can unlock investment, expand electricity access and create an enabling environment for clean energy deployment across the country.

Hadiza Adukonu, Vice President, Opportunity Maturation and New Ventures at Oando Clean Energy, also delivered a presentation titled “From Diesel Dependency to a Clean Energy Future,” highlighting how renewable energy presents a commercially viable pathway for businesses seeking reliable, affordable and sustainable power solutions.

Subsequently, other sessions throughout the day explored:

  • From Diesel to Development – Powering Nigeria’s Economy with Solar & Storage: Exploring the role of solar and storage in driving economic growth.
  • Regulation That Unlocks Scale – Embedded Generation, Mini-Grids & Captive Power: Examining policy and regulatory frameworks that can accelerate investment and improve electricity access.
  • From Import Dependence to Industrialisation – Building Nigeria’s Local Content Value Chain: Discussing opportunities to strengthen local manufacturing and develop domestic capacity.
  • Scalability and ROI of Captive On-Site Solar in Nigeria’s Industrial Clusters: Showcasing practical business cases for commercial and industrial solar adoption.
  • Building Nigeria’s First Solar Manufacturing Success Story: Exploring pathways to establishing a thriving local solar manufacturing industry.
  • Designing Solar Systems That Work with an Unreliable Grid: Sharing practical approaches to building resilient solar systems for Nigeria’s power environment.
  • Electric Mobility in Nigeria – Infrastructure, Investment and the Business Case: Examining the policies, infrastructure and financing needed to support electric mobility.
  • From Diesel Dependency to Solar Adoption – What’s Driving the Solar Boom: Highlighting the growing momentum behind businesses transitioning to cleaner energy solutions.

Collaboration Across the Energy Ecosystem

Beyond the conference sessions, the exhibition featured leading companies showcasing the latest innovations in solar photovoltaic technology, battery energy storage, energy management systems and distributed energy solutions. Meanwhile, the exhibition provided valuable opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange and collaboration among government institutions, electricity distribution companies (DisCos), renewable energy developers, EPC contractors, financiers, manufacturers, commercial and industrial energy users, development partners and industry associations.

In addition, the discussions reinforced the importance of stronger collaboration between government and the private sector, supportive regulatory frameworks, increased investment, and local manufacturing in accelerating Nigeria’s transition to a cleaner, more resilient and sustainable energy future.

Solar & Storage Live Nigeria 2026 continues with another day of expert-led discussions, technical demonstrations and networking sessions designed to advance innovation and unlock new opportunities across Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.

If you’re attending today, be sure to visit the exhibition, join the conference sessions and connect with the innovators, policymakers and industry leaders shaping the future of clean energy in Nigeria.
