- President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ayodele Fayose as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency and announced 25 other appointments across key federal agencies and commissions.
- The appointments include new leadership for the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, National Population Commission and Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), as part of a fresh round of 26 appointments into federal government agencies and commissions.
The appointments, announced in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.
At the Rural Electrification Agency, Fayose will chair the board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who will serve as members and non-executive directors. The agency’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and its three executive directors will complete the board.
In another key appointment affecting the power sector, President Tinubu named Dr Akinola Odeyemi as the Managing Director of Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), a critical institution responsible for bulk electricity trading in Nigeria’s power market.
The President also appointed retired Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.
Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, a former member of the House of Representatives, will serve as Secretary of the commission, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde will represent Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states as commissioners. Other members include Dr Mai Adamu Yau, Ginika Florence Tor, Engineer Lawrence Okoh and Bello Morenike Iyabode.
Meanwhile, President Tinubu redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju from his previous position as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
The President also appointed Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission and Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.
In the agricultural sector, Engineer Julius Oloro will serve as Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), succeeding the late Dr A.R. Kamal.
President Tinubu also approved the constitution of the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman alongside Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola as members.
Additionally, Shuni Muhammad Dahiru will serve as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who previously moved to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.
The President also appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority, replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to contest the Benue State governorship election.
According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect as the administration continues to strengthen leadership across strategic government institutions.
