The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) will launch a new Off-Grid Sector Coordination Forum in Abuja on September 28, 2026.
The forum will bring together government agencies, state governments and development partners. It will also include financiers, mini-grid companies, solar firms, manufacturers and service providers.
The REA said the initiative responds to major changes across Nigeria’s off-grid renewable energy market. The sector now includes a broader mix of public and private stakeholders. The agency said this growth requires stronger coordination and better market intelligence. It also aims to ensure that investments deliver sustainable electricity access.
The forum will introduce a revised Off-Grid Stakeholder Coordination and Partnership Framework. The framework will create a structured platform for stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
The framework will address several challenges affecting sector growth. These include innovative financing, local content development and productive electricity use.
It will also promote commercially sustainable business models across the sector. Stakeholders will identify priority issues, partnerships and actions for the first 90 days after launch.
The REA’s initiative comes as Nigeria expands decentralised renewable energy solutions. Solar systems and mini-grids increasingly serve communities and businesses with limited grid access.
The agency said stakeholders must move beyond fragmented interventions. It wants stronger collaboration and coordinated action across the market. The new platform will allow participants to share market intelligence and identify common challenges. It will also support partnerships that can accelerate renewable energy deployment.
The REA and its partners have invited active stakeholders across Nigeria’s off-grid and renewable energy sector to attend the unveiling.
