The Belgian Start-Up Sunslice is developing a small-scale solar panel which it says can recharge smartphones under a couple of hours. The company claims that this solar panel called the ‘photon panel’ is the smallest solar charger on the planet.
The photon panel weighs 220g and is foldable into a wallet-sized object. American based Sunpower provides solar cells for the panels. The panel currently costs about €100 and can be bought in supermarkets in 10 countries.
Sunslice believes it will be a useful product for hikers and travellers as well as a useful corporate gift that presents originality and promotes clean energy.
Sunslice is based in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, situated 30km southeast of the capital city of Brussels.
