- The objective of the audit, to restore idle gas plants
The Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) has announced its plans to carry out an audit of all Independent Power Plants (IPPs).
The objective of the audit is to ensure the utilisation of available capacity in these power plants. The audit will take into account, the gas turbines that have been out of use. The NDPHC will seek ways in which these turbines can be restored and utilised.
Speaking on the audit, the Executive Director, Generation, NDPHC, Abdullahi Kassim said, “the audit will give us an overview of critical issues…. now, we will do an audit to understand how many people we have on those power plants, what are the needed skills and expertise and the gaps which we need to quickly fix”.
According to Kassim, the directive to revive all non-performing plants came from Vice President Osibanjo.
