- The solar plant will represent one of the largest Commercial and Industrial as well as agricultural solar power systems in the country.
- The 700KWp Plant will begin operations by December and will generate about 1GWh of energy manually and save about 25,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions over the course of its lifespan.
West African renewable energy services provider, Rensource has announced it will be deploying a Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar power system in partnership with the impact investment company, Empower New Energy. The company will deploy 700KWp solar PV plant at Premium Poultry Farms one of Nigeria’s largest egg producer near the capital city of Abuja.
This will be one of the largest C&I solar energy projects in Nigeria, as well as one of the largest in the agricultural sector. The plant will generate about 1GWh of clean energy annually.
The ground-mounted solar power system will generate around 1 gigawatt-hour of clean energy annually. The lifespan of the plant is expected to be 25 years based on the PPA signed between the Empower New Energy and Premium Farms. Operations for the power plant is scheduled to begin in December 2020 and will create about 40 jobs during the construction and installation phase.
Ademola Adesina, the CEO of Rensource, stated that this project demonstrates the company’s ability to meet the energy needs of a diverse array of industrial customers. Premium Poultry Farms produces about 600 000 eggs daily and has its own feed mill, making it the country´s largest egg producer. Alhaji Mahey Rasheed, Chairman of Premium Poultry Farms, stated that the project would help the farm substantially lower its energy costs.
