Seraphim to Construct Solar Module Production Facility in Vietnam

  • Seraphim is constructing a 750MW of solar module production factory near Hanoi in Vietnam.
  • The Plant will produce 250MW capacity of the new series 4 module and 500MW capacity of the older series 3 module.
  • The company have a total solar module production capacity of 5GW located mainly in China and South Africa.

In Vietnam, Seraphim is investing in 750 MW of new module production power, citing its goal of improving the resilience of the supply chain of the country and its ability to supply modules worldwide. Construction has already begun on a new facility situated in Vinh Phuc Province, northwest of Hanoi. The company intends to start the production of the test phase in early 2021.

According to Executive Vice President Jun Zhuge, the factory will enhance Seraphim’s competitiveness in the US market and increase the company’s global market share by expanding the capacity of production in regions outside of China.

Seraphim currently has a total production capacity of 5 GW located mainly in China. The company also has significant cell and module capacity in South Africa.

Seraphim launched a new ‘Series 4’ module at the beginning of the year. The company states that for the Vietnam factory, 250MW of the new capacity will initially be devoted to producing the ‘Series 4’ module. At the same time, the remaining capacity (500 MW) will be dedicated to the older Series 3 module.

It is expected that the construction of this factory will create more jobs and opportunities for Vietnam’s local community, advance technological progress in the region and contribute to a more energy-sustainable society.”
