The Angolan Ministry of Energy and Water has reached an agreement with the French power producer Total Eren to construct a solar PV power plant in Lubango, in the south-east of Angola. The power plant will have a capacity of 35 MWp.
Total Eren and Greentech will provide financing for the power plant. The two companies will own 75% and 25% of the power plant, respectively. The companies will operate the power plant. Total Eren says it is seeking the partnership of Angola’s national oil company Sonangol in the project.
According to Fabienne Demol, the Vice President and Global Head of Business Development of Total Eren, the clean energy project will provide fuel savings for the country.
