The Béninoise brewer has recently installed a rooftop solar PV system at its Cotonou headquarters.
- The system consists of over 350 solar modules and will generate 450kWh daily.
Béninoise brewer, Société béninoise de brasserie (SOBEBRA) has just installed a rooftop solar PV system in its headquarters in the state capital Cotonou. The rooftop plant comprises of 352 solar panels with a daily capacity of 450 kWh.
According to SOBEBRA, the energy generated will be consumed immediately ensuring the company a permanent supply of electricity. The plant will also reduce SOBEBRA’s carbon footprint as it progress towards becoming a green industry.
The government of Benin is also doing its part to increase electricity access in the country. The government early this year announced that it would set up a company to produce or buy clean energy from private producers. Currently, eight mini-grids are being constructed across the country. When completed, these solar systems will increase the country’s energy capacity by 13.4MW.
