- This is part of the government’s drive to increase electrification access rate via solar energy.
The government of Kwilu in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will deploy off-grid solar power solutions at 46 health facilities. The facilities comprise 40 health centres and six hospitals in Kwilu province and the main town of Kikwit. These facilities selected by the National News Service (SENEL) are located in rural and urban areas.
According to SENEL, solar PV installation will be deployed in these facilities as part of a $1.37 million electrification project. 60 per cent of the project financing is being provided by a South African partner, while the provincial government of Kwilu will provide the remaining 40 per cent.
