The Togolese government intends to establish a renewable energy training centre in the capital city of Lomé. The IFAD–Renewable Energy centre will be built by local companies. As such, the Ministry of Public Works has recently launched a call for tenders to construct IFAD campuses.
According to the Togolese Minister of Public Works, Zouréhatou Tcha-Kondo Kassa-Traoré, the companies selected will selected companies will execute the project in several lots: infrastructure, high-current electricity, delivery station and solar energy, computer cabling and network infrastructure, and plumbing.

The institute is expected to build capacity in manufacturing, installation and maintenance of solar panels. This expertise will be needed as Togo looks to increase the sare pf renewable energy in its electricity mix to 50%.
Togolese Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Agency (AT2ER) would monitor trained Togolese technicians’ achievements through an online platform dedicated to clean off-grid management.
Deadline for companies interested in the government’s call for tenders is 16 February 2021
