Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has decried the high rate of electrical equipment vandalism within its operation area. This comes on the heels of the ruling by an Anambra state Magistrate Court that convicted and sentenced Edozieuno IKemefuna and Chinedu Agbata Nwabueze to four years imprisonment. The convicted persons were found guilty of vandalising electrical installations.
The Head of Communications, Emeka Ezeh while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) encouraged residents to report any citing of electrical vandalism. According to him, vandalism of electrical equipment is fast becoming an issue for the DisCo. He also noted the resolve of EEDC to go after the recipients of vandalised equipment.
He urged residents to be cautious and report any suspicious activity around electrical installations. “Residents are encouraged to make use of the company’s whistle-blowing lines 084 700 110 and 0814 602 6678 to report any suspicious attempt on installation or report to the EEDC office serving them or to the nearest police station’’, he said.
