France’s energy regulator, the CRE, has launched the 10th tender to install utility-scale solar PV projects. The plants must exceed 500 kW in size.
CRE intend to allocate 450 MW for ground-mounted PV installations exceeding 5 MW in size, 180 MW for PV projects with an installed power of between 500 kW and 5 MW, and 70 MW for projects ranging from 5 MW to 10 MW installed on parking shades.

The CRE has also stated that if the number of eligible projects is greater than 700 MW, it will increase the allocated MW to 1,000 MW for ground-mounted, 1,250 MW for 500KW – 5MW projects, and 100 MW for 5MW to 10MW parking shade installations.
Submitted tenders should comply with the new French regulation, which prioritizes low-carbon emission PV modules projects. According to these rules, the CRE can only select project tenders with a carbon footprint of less than a certain limit of kg CO2/kW. This limit is calculated through France’s Environment & Energy Management Agency (ADEME) simplified calculator.
Bids must be submitted between June 14 and June 25, 2021.
