- UNN has constructed a 100kv Refuse-Derived-Fuel Gasification plant to address electricity challenges in school and its environs.
- The plant will reduce the school’s diesel consumption by 60 per cent.
- The school intends to expand the plant from 100KVA to 500KVA.
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has constructed a 100kv Refuse-Derived-Fuel Gasification plant to address electricity challenges in school and its environs. The plant which utilises organic refuse to generate electricity was designed and facilitated by the University‘s Laboratory of Industrial Electronics, Power Devices, and New Energy Systems (LIEPNES).
According to the head of the research team who constructed the plant, Prof. Emineke Ejiogu, the plant could reduce diesel consumption by 60 per cent. He also noted that the team is working on expanding the plant from 100KVA to 500KVA.
