The results for the pre-qualification process for the construction of a solar power project have been released. The results were published by Mozambique’s Energy Regulatory Authority (Arene). The solar project is to be constructed in Dondo, in the Sofala Province of Mozambique.
Based on the results, five Independent Power Producers have been pre-qualified for the project’s construction. They include EDF Renewables, Enel Green Power -a subsidiary of the Italian group Enel, Total Eren -the subsidiary of French oil company Total. The Italian IPP Scatec and a consortium of Akuo Energy and Globeleq Africa are also part of the selection.
This project’s construction falls under the Renewable Energy Auction Program (Proler) by the French Development Agency (AFD) and state-owned Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM). The AFD has stated that Proler will greatly help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in Mozambique.
