Xlinks to develop solar and wind complex in Morocco.

Xlinks, a British company has plans to develop a solar and wind complex in Morocco. This renewable project is expected to overtake Egypt’s Benban complex. The solar and wind complex is expected to produce 10.5 GW of electricity and is to be located in the Moroccan desert.
The solar photovoltaic (PV) complex will have 7 GWp capacity and a 5 GW/20 GWh storage system. Once completed, this will be the largest storage system in Africa. Xlinks will also construct a 3.5 GW wind farm.
Simon Morrish, Xlinks CEO says steps are already being taken to obtain land and the necessary authorisations for the projects. These authorisations are to be granted by the Moroccan government. The electricity produced will be transported in a 3,800 km undersea cable through France, Spain and Portugal to the UK electricity grid.
