NEDCo to issue a temporary load shedding schedule
- Tamale Metropolis to experience power cuts
- Load shedding is due to technical issues
The Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) is set to issue a load shedding schedule for the Tamale metropolis. The management of NEDCo has attributed the load shedding to technical issues at the Adubili-Yili KV substation.
Over the weekend, the power supply to some parts of the metropolis was cut off from the grid due to technical challenges. The Corporate Communications Manager, NEDCo Mr. Maxwell Kotoka has said “We are sure that in the next couple of hours or a maximum of two days, we should be able to come up with a defined schedule”.
Speaking on the challenges, Kotoka explained “We have not hidden that from them. As open as we are, management has issued statements explaining that these two difficulties will compel us to restrain the distribution of power”. He also appealed to the consumers for patience with the NEDCo in resolving the technical difficulties.
Ghana has in recent times seen an increase in the number of power cuts in the country. The Electric Company of Ghana (ECG) had previously issued a load shedding schedule affecting a large number of households. ECG added the load shedding will aid in facilitating work on its transmission lines.
