Toungo in Adamawa state to receive supply
- Contract for connection to the grid cost ₦355 million
- The project is to be inaugurated
Tuongo, a town in Ganye Local Government Area (LGA) Adamawa state is set to witness the inauguration of its electrification project. The town is to be connected to the national grid after more than a decade without supply.
Umaru Fintiri, the Governor Adamawa state had in 2019, awarded the contract for the electrification of the town. The project cost the state government a total of ₦355 million and was awarded to Mac Jones Construction Limited. The project has since been completed.
Some of the residents expressed gratitude to the state government for the efforts at providing access to electricity. They stressed the importance of electricity to the economic well-being of the town. “Businesses can thrive in the future after getting electricity more than twenty years after the local government came into existence” Mr. Adamu a resident said.
The state government has promised to complete all other electricity projects in the state. The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Umar Pella, said “If you remember, during our campaign, one of the promises we made to them was that once we are voted into power, they are rest assured that they would be connected to the national grid”.
“We want a situation whereby at the end of this time, people can look back and hold us accountable for everything we have promised them and can be satisfied” he added.
