Minister seeks community’s cooperation on vandalism
- 315KVA transformer vandlised
- Minister promises to restore power to affected areas
The Sierra Leonian Minister for Electricity, Kanja Sesay has pleaded with the Kossoh Town and Jui Community leaders on the protection of electrical equipment. He made this known while conducting an inspection of the recently vandalised 315KVA transformer in the area.
The 315KVA transformer serving these communities was vandalised leaving over four hundred households without electricity supply. Mr. Sesay called on the community to take charge of protecting the electrical equipment to ensure a continuous supply of electricity. The Minister also assured residents of a speedy intervention to restore supply to the affected areas.
The Electricity Distribution Agency (EDSA) last week promised to establish a security outfit to curtail the increasing cases of electrical equipment theft. According to the EDSA, the outfit will work hand-in-hand with the police and the military across the country’s capital, Freetown.
