Bahrain to Deploy Solar Park at Formula 1 circuit

Bahrain’s Sustainable Energy Authority (SEA) and the Bahrain International Circuit have issued a tender for the deployment of a solar farm at the Bahrain Formula 1 circuit. The request for proposal was issued for a Build Own Operate and Maintain (BOOM) grid-tied solar PV power plant with a minimum capacity of 3 MWac.The solar panels will be installed in a mounted array as car park shades at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Bahrain plans to add 255 MW of solar generation capacity online by 2025 using several deployment models, including net metering, utility-scale tenders, and renewable energy mandate for new buildings. Bahrain has set a renewable energy target of 700 MW of solar, wind and waste-to-power generation capacities by 2030.

The contract period for the Bahrain Formula 1 circuit solar farm will be 20 years, and the deadline for submission for interested developers is June 9.
