Distributed energy provider, SOLAD Power Group, has formed a strategic alliance with Viathan Engineering Limited to deliver integrated energy solutions to customers across Nigeria. SOLAD and Viathan had previously developed an IPP project at Sura market in Lagos. The plant provides a reliable power supply to about 1000 small businesses. The alliance will see Viathan combine its world-class engineering, gas infrastructure and gas to power generation capability with SOLAD’s solar generation capability, last-mile distribution capabilities and value-added services proposition.

SOLAD Power Group noted that the alliance would allow the company to build upon the synergies between both companies and deploy hybrid gas and solar projects to provide energy supply for businesses. SOLAD also believes that the alliance will create new financing opportunities and lower project delivery costs.
Viathan also believes that the alliance will enable the company to increase its gas generation customer base while contributing to the two pillars of the government’s energy strategy, gas and renewables.
SOLAD recently connected over 10,000 businesses to its services. The company focuses on underserved consumers, especially small businesses that suffer from electricity supply challenges.
SOLAD plans to install 12 mini-grids in markets across the South West of Nigeria over the next two years. About 20,000 small businesses are expected to be added to the company’s network.
