Tanzania’s Deputy Energy Minister, Stephen Byabato gave a status update on the Rumakali Power project. In a meeting with members of the Tanzanian Parliament, Babyato said the scheduled deadline for completing the project is June 2024. Located in the Njombe region, the Rumakali project is implemented by the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO).
The 222MW hydropower project constructed on Rumakali River includes a 220kW transmission line from Rumakali station to Iganjo in Mbeya Region. Contractors on the project will commence works in August this year.
