Nigeria has what it takes to have stable electricity, Al Mustapha says
- He says electricity supply still too expensive
- Urges the FG to increase efforts to make electricity affordable and reliable
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Major Al Mustapha has said that electricity supply in the country is too expensive and unreliable. He noted the abundance of natural resources in the country, which he says can be channelled into a reliable and affordable electricity supply.
”Up till this moment, electricity supply in Nigeria is still very very expensive compared to other countries in spite of the fact that we have all it takes to have one of the most stable and cheap power supply in the world”, Al Mustapha said.
”We have hydro, and gas resources in abundance and yet electricity generation and transmission in Nigeria is one of the most expensive in the world”, he added.
Al Mustapha also stated that there is no excuse for poor electricity supply in the country. ”We have the resources in abundance, we have coal and gas, we have solar energy in abundance because we are near the equator, we don’t have any excuse for power failure in Nigeria”, he said.
