The Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Mr Chiedu Ugbo, has announced that the NDPHC will partner with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources to develop small and medium hydropower projects across the country. The CEO stated this during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, in Abuja on Tuesday.
Ugbo noted that the NDPHC’s renewable energy strategy focuses not only on standalone solar systems but also on mini-grid and utility-scale developments. The NDPHC is also focused on increasing clean energy capacity via hydroelectric dams.
The Minister added that Nigeria has over 240 dams, with most of them capable of generating hydroelectricity. He noted that these dams could generate up to 40MW of electricity.
