SENEGAL: Karpowership FSRU Arrives in Senegal

The Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FRSU) vesseL, the first in the country, has arrived at the capital, Dakar. The vessel arrived from Singapore on Wednesday. The vessel will be partly powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Senegal’s first FRSU is delivered through a joint venture between Japanese company Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd (MOL) and Turkey’s Karpowership.

”This project aims to provide reliable, affordable and cleaner power” Senegal’s state-owned power company says. Once operational, the FRSU will supply liquefied gas to the Karpowership vessel, which supplies 15% of electricity in Senegal. There is no indication of when the FRSU would be operational.
